Support them back this fall, and watch for the next round of openings.

<strong>The Marketplace at Calimesa</strong> (Cherry Valley Blvd and I-10) has quietly become the Pass Area's fastest-growing dining corridor. The newest arrival is <strong>Fire Rock Burgers &amp; Brews</strong> (1040 Cherry Valley Blvd), a family-owned burgers-and-beer bar by Erick and Kayla Rolston that grew from a local favorite, and it joins a quick-service lineup that now includes <strong>Del Taco</strong> (1012 Cherry Valley Blvd), <strong>Wingstop</strong> (1032), <strong>Arby's</strong> (1036), and <strong>Panda Express</strong> (1028). Grab a burger and a cold one, or mix and match the drive-through row on the way through the pass.

If you want a quiet, uncrowded canyon walk this fall, head to the San Timoteo Canyon area: the <strong>San Timoteo Canyon Creekside Trail</strong> (about 1.3 miles) and the longer Yucaipa Creek trail offer flat, easy walking through golden canyon country with fall wildflowers and wildlife, and the undeveloped San Timoteo Canyon State Park property allows hiking, horseback riding, birdwatching, and geocaching. The Redlands Conservancy's <strong>San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary</strong> (about 200 acres of riparian, grassland, and chaparral habitat) adds a 4-mile loop on the historic Cocomaricopa and Carriage trails. All just a short drive from the Pass Area, and the oaks turn gold against snow-dusted San Gorgonio in the fall.
