Weekend Recap: Beaumont & the Pass, Oct 3–4

By Sam Silver · Local Guide & Community Advocate

How did the October 3-4 weekend go in Beaumont and the San Gorgonio Pass? It was the biggest single day of the fall festival season: the Cherry Valley Fall Festival filled the village with Oktoberfest games, a beer garden, and ghost tour hay rides, the 21st Annual Morongo Rodeo brought roping and riding to the Morongo Indian Cowboy Ranch in Banning, and the San Gorgonio Pass Historical Society and Riverside County Parks hosted a free Fall Fest at the historic San Timoteo Canyon Schoolhouse. In the evenings, Lavender Nights at 123 Farm glowed with over half a million lights, open every weekend through October 25. Here is a friendly, family-first look back at the weekend, plus what is still ahead this fall.

Today is R.E.D. Friday

It's Friday, October 2, which means it's R.E.D. Friday: wear red and Remember Everyone Deployed. A simple red shirt, hat, or ribbon is a visible way to honor the men and women serving overseas and the families waiting for them here at home.

Saturday's big one: the Cherry Valley Fall Festival

The Cherry Valley Fall Festival returns on Saturday, October 3 for a family-friendly day of vendors, Oktoberfest games, a beer garden, ghost tour hay rides through historic Cherry Valley, live music, and pumpkin carving for the kids. It is the village's signature autumn celebration, the perfect way to welcome October in the Pass Area.

Around the Pass on October 3-4

A couple of other favorites rounded out the San Gorgonio Pass area on October 3-4, each one a nice excuse to get out and soak up the season.

21st Annual Morongo Rodeo · Banning

A Banning tradition for 21 years: an authentic rodeo on the Morongo Indian Cowboy Ranch (11555 Cottonwood Rd) with roping, riding, and family-friendly Western entertainment celebrating the Pass Area's cowboy heritage. It ran alongside the Cherry Valley Fall Festival on October 3, so visitors could plan a full day and catch both.

Lavender Nights at 123 Farm · Cherry Valley

Over half a million lights illuminate the lavender fields and olive groves at 123 Farm, with weekend hours from 3:00 to 10:00 PM. Wrap the day in Cherry Valley with a warm evening walk through the lights, then stop by the village or the farm's kitchen on your way out. Runs through October 25.

My favorite kind of weekend

I've called the Pass Area home long enough to know the weekends here are special. Last Saturday, visitors wandered the Cherry Valley Fall Festival, watched roping and riding at the Morongo Rodeo, toured the historic San Timoteo Canyon Schoolhouse, and ended the evening among half a million lights at 123 Farm, four great ways to spend one day, all of them showing off the neighbors, music, and community spirit that make the Pass Area home.

Beaumont Life exists to help you find these moments, whether you've lived here for decades or you're just exploring the area as a future home. If you missed the weekend, there is plenty more fall ahead: the Joshua Tree Music Festival and Night Sky Festival headline October 9-11, and my Weekend Guide for those dates is live now. And if you're ever thinking about buying or selling a home in the Pass Area, I'd be honored to help.
